The Cuba–Italy Business Committee (CICI) was established to strengthen economic and trade relations between the two countries.
The Agreement was officially signed in Havana on 11 March 2011 by the Cámara de Comercio de Cuba and Padova Promex, acting as the Permanent Secretariat in Italy of the Italian Section of the Cuba–Italy Business Committee (CICI).
Since December 2020, Venicepromex has assumed the role of Permanent Secretariat in Italy for the Italian Section of the CICI.
Recognised by the Cuban Government, the Cuba–Italy Business Committee serves as an information and support platform for Italian companies operating in the Cuban market.
Its mission is to promote cooperation and economic and trade relations, services, tourism, and investment between the members of the Italian Section of the CICI and Cuban companies and institutions. In particular, the Committee aims to:
- Facilitate the exchange of economic and commercial information between the two countries.
- Identify barriers and obstacles that may delay or hinder the successful development of bilateral business negotiations, based on information provided by both parties.
- Organise meetings, conferences, seminars, workshops, study visits, and other similar initiatives in both countries to encourage networking and the exchange of knowledge on topics of common interest for businesses from both sections.
- Promote the participation of both sections in trade fairs and exhibitions held in Italy and Cuba.
- Address any other economic or commercial matters that may arise and that are consistent with the principles and objectives of the Committee.
Organisation
The Cuba–Italy Business Committee is composed of two sections:
- The Cuban Section, based at the Cámara de Comercio de Cuba in Havana.
- The Italian Section, based at the Permanent Secretariat in Italy.
The Permanent Secretariat supports the Italian Section of the CICI by managing memberships and member relations, promoting the Committee's activities, organising meetings of the Board of Directors and the General Assembly, and fostering relations with Cuban and Italian institutions.
